Before you open your doors, there are some things you need to do and some things you need to know about. Below is a check list of things you need to verify, the permits, licences and documents you must have. You will find information about each of these requirements on this site.

OPENING YOUR RESTAURANT REGULATIONS CHECKLIST

•    Zoning  
•    Building Permit
•    Kitchen design approved by local Health Authority
•    Building owner’s written approval for renovations
•    Name approval
•    BC Corporate Registry
•    Permit for signs/awnings
•    PST Registration
•    Business Number (BN) Registration
•    Liquor License Application
•    Waste Disposal
•    Occupancy Permit
•    Food Service Permit
•    Business License
•   Menu 

TIP: You must keep the following permits and licences on display within the restaurant:

• Business License
• Food Service Permit
• Liquor License

The following must be available to be seen if requested by an inspector:

• All Serving It Right certificates
• All Foodsafe certificates
